Can you choose to not be you?

I think you can choose if you want to be you or not, as far as how you act. But just because you act different than yourself dosen't mean you think differently. I think that if you really want to, then you can change who you are on the inside. Nobody wants to stay being someone they don't like. Some people probably want to change but are either too afraid to do it because who they are now is familier, or they are afraid of what others will think of them. I think a lot of people act one way when they feel another because they think it's cooler and that more people will like them if they act that way. After awhile I think they lose touch with themselves as well.

So in the end I think you can change who you are and you can pretend not to be you, but you can never really not be yourself.

Sooner or later all things in the dark come to the light. Whether you're trying to live up to what your parents/family think you should be, or trying to fit in with whatever group of friends you hang out with, I've found that a 'put on' persona gets transparent rather quickly as you get to know a person. And, I find people who are true to themselves a lot more enjoyable to be around, they're more at home with themselves and not constantly on the alert to figure out what their alter ego should say in any particular situation. A person can pretend to be someone they're not, but for the long term it is an unhappy, lonely place to be. If you're the one who is trying to act differently than how you think, you'll find out quickly that it's tiring, you can't trust anyone because they don't know the real you. Easier just to smile and be yourself. If someone doesn't like you, their problem! If someone falls in love you, they've fallen in love with the real you.

I totally agree...I've always said that "If they don't like me fuck um" If you know me, you'll know that I'm always just me. What you see is what you get. The post was not about me, but about people who try to be someone else. Fake people just make me laugh, they think that they're pulling it off, but in reality you can see right through them. I agree, just smile and make the most of it. There's never going to be a time when you please everyone, so don't worry about it.
